Ate at the restaurant did not stay overnight. The food and service are good. I have lived in the area for over 13 years, an although the food has always been good, it's never changed. When I first started my culinary career I ate here and loved thier take on the calamari, but that was over a decade ago. The menu is old and stale. It is executed well with no complaints on the food, but if you were serving the same dishes for 15years, I hope it is cooked well. It's a good place to eat if you give it 6 months in-between, or till you forget it's gonna be the same menu. Hopefully the owners will eventually try something new, but not holding my breath.
We were very disappointed by the lack of hospitality at the Brewster Inn. Most of staff was unfriendly and on occasion was downright rude. For example the front desk and hostesses would wait to finish a conversation with each other before addressing their guests sometimes for several minutes. The Inn itself was very quaint however the carpeting is dirty and should be replaced. The noise of other guests waiting to be seated in the dinning area is audible from the guest rooms. When we had dinner there one evening the wait for our food was very long and again most of the staff was unfriendly. Overall it wasn’t our worst experience but will find other accommodations next time we travel to the region.
Great birthday dinner at the Brewster Inn. Everything is clearly marked if it is GF but the kitchen is also very accommodating. Portions are large so you feel like you are getting your money's worth. They have non alcoholic drinks which were on point. Definitely will go back for another special occasion.
This was My wife an I’s second time eating at The Brewster, we had a dinner reservation for 3 pm. We arrived at 2:59 and there were 3 parties in front of us waiting to be sat.
I over heard the server who was seating people say to the guests ahead of us that they can’t really do dinner now and that it may take a while because the kitchen is transitioning from brunch service. I thought to myself this seems logistically tough thing but guests should be burdened by the transition. (Resy distinguishes the brunch and Dinner hours) it was a little disappointing we had been sat so late especially since we had a reservation and the parties in front of us did not so they needed to space the seating.
We finally were seated and it seemed like the server was struggling. No mention of specials. I ordered a beer that she later informed me they were out of. She did come back with a suggestion from the bartender what would be a good replacement. I declined because my first choice was a lager and the second beer they offered was an IPA. I told her I needed another minute with the menu. It seemed like it took forever before anyone came back.
To be Honest I considered leaving a $20 on the table for my wife’s wine and walking out. But thankfully a new server took over for the prior. She did an amazing job very down to earth and knowledgeable about the menu. The mussels with andouille sausage were really great! She suggested ordering an additional side of bread for the sauce which was a really good tip. My Wife ordered the scallop special and was pleased with them. I ordered the Ribeye but very disappointingly I was served a cut from the butt end that had a lot of connective fibers and lacked that beautiful eye and deckle meat a ribeye is know for.
At this point you may be rolling your eyes at this review and thinking who does this guy think he is? I don’t usually write too many reviews but I work in the industry as well. For taking into consideration I drove over an hour to eat here celebrating a birthday and the amount of money that I spent here, it was really disproportionate to the experience we had.
We just had an early valentines dinner & didn't stay the night BUT Anita's timing was impeccable, she was a lovely server. Everything was great, took some house made ice cream home with us :)
The location and Sunday brunch were the best things about this property. My room was room 14 and honestly not a fantastic room. My friends however had the room with the private balcony which was beautiful! My issue with this particular property is that we paid the same price. I had a smaller room and a very small stand-up shower while they had a huge stand up shower with three heads, a divine view and a private balcony. Word to the wise when staying here really research the room that you are renting. I would have never paid the price tag I paid if I had known the room was going to be so small, especially the bathroom, after seeing our friend's room and they paid the same price. Fantastic restaurants, pubs and distilleries all through this area and only 7 to 10 minutes from the property made it worth the stay not to mention the Sunday brunch. If I could do it all over again, now knowing the rooms differ so greatly and the prices do not, I would probably just go to Sunday brunch, hit a couple distilleries and then head home.
Cannot believe I've lived in Central NY all my life and never had dinner here...

This was one of the best meals of my life.
